Get Started
Thank you for purchasing our product, we hope you use it with happiness. For smooth fitting and usage, please read the below instructions:
Fitting
On the back of the poster you will find two metal hooks. We recommend that you hang the poster using these metal hooks and 'L' shape hooks. For fitting, there are 2 'L' shape hooks and 2 plastic dowel tubes included in the box.
For wooden walls the plastic dowel tubes are not required. In any case we recommend pre-drilling holes with 2mm (or for hard wood 3mm) drill bit. For every other material it is recommended to use the plastic dowel tube in 5mm hole.
Drill two 30-35mm deep holes at 320mm between each hole. Insert the plastic dowel tubes in the holes, such that the tubes sit roughly ~1mm below the surface of the wall. If needed use a hammer to gently push the plastic tubes in the hole. In the plastic dowels screw in the 'L' shape hooks. The hook should be facing upwards from the wall roughly 10-15mm away. If the wall isn't perfectly perpendicular, you may adjust the fitment of the poster by screwing the hooks in-and-out until you find the perfect fit. Once the poster is hung on the wall, make sure that the hook is under the hanging tab. You may not always be able to fit the two 'L' shape hooks completely level - but do not worry, the hanging tabs are deliberately fitted on the back of the poster at a slight angle, so that you can use the teeth of these hooks to change the level of each side of the poster by +-5mm.
On the back of the poster you will also find 4 rubber spacers. Please do not remove these, as due to the limited space between the wall and the back of the poster, your poster may harmfully overheat over time.
Power
The electronics of the pictures operate on 5 Volt DC. Each picture has one USB Type-C connector, located on the right side of the picture, approximately 5 cm from the bottom. To power the picture, a cable with a USB Type-C connector and a USB power adapter are required.
Important: A mobile phone fast charger (with variable voltage) is not suitable—only adapters with a fixed 5V output voltage should be used. The required current varies by picture, but all are below 1A.
Since many households have unused power adapters and USB cables, the posters are shipped without them. However, if needed, they can be purchased separately in the shop.
The pictures are also available with a built-in Lithium-Polymer (Li-Po) battery. The battery has an integrated charging controller, making it compatible with any fixed 5V output adapter. Its lifespan is 1,000–1,500 charge cycles before its capacity decreases by 20%, ensuring long-lasting functionality.
Under normal usage, the Li-Po battery is safe, but please follow these guidelines:
- Before first use, connect the power source before turning on the picture. (The toggle switch is on the back.)
- Preferably, let the battery fully discharge before recharging. Once fully charged, avoid leaving it connected to the charger.
- Do not store the battery in a discharged state; charge it first. Following these instructions will significantly extend battery life.
-
Do not remove the battery from the picture. Replacement should only be performed by a qualified professional. Using an incorrect battery type poses a serious safety risk. Disassembling the picture or removing the battery voids the warranty.
- Do not expose the picture or battery to fire, direct sunlight for extended periods, or excessive heat.
- Do not submerge the picture or battery in water, rinse it under running water, or store it outdoors.
- If you do not plan to use the picture for an extended period (weeks or more), fully charge the battery and switch off the electronics using the back toggle switch. Daily on/off switching is not required.
Plug-in powered pictures require a continuously connected power source. To facilitate cable management, we recommend two accessories:
- The ‘L’ shape connector changes the cable’s direction at the connection point.
- The ‘U’ shape connector allows the cable to be routed behind the picture in any direction.
For securing the cable, double-sided adhesive tape is recommended.
Usage
Touch Control
The touch-sensitive area is located on the right-side frame of the picture, above the USB connector, spanning approximately 5-10 cm in length. This area is touch-responsive on both the front and side of the frame.
You can control the picture by touching this area as follows:
- Short touch (< 1 sec): Turns the LED light on or off. When turned on, the brightness is set to 80%.
-
Long touch (> 1 sec): Adjusts the LED brightness.
- On the first long touch after turning it on, the brightness decreases.
- On the second long touch, the brightness increases.
- Subsequent long touches will alternate between dimming and brightening the light.
RF Remote
The remote control variant is operated via Radio Frequency (RF) waves, and gives full control over your poster at range. We use two different RF control modules and hence two remotes:
- Light On / Return from Dynamic mode
- Light Off
- Return from Dynamic mode
- Brightness adjustment
- Jump to pre-defined brightness level
- Dynamic Mode: select between light flashing programmes
- Light flash speed
- Adjust the intensity at which sound is reacted to
- Timed switch-off
Remotes required 3V CR2025 batteries (included). Remotes work at 2.4GHz frequency.
Bluetooth App Control
This variant allows you to control your poster. Main functions:
- Turn on and off
- Brightness adjustment
- Dynamic mode selection
- Timed switch-off
- Music induced dynamic mode
- Multiple poster lightning management independently or in a group
This variant requires the TrickLight application (available on the Apple App Store for iOS and on the Google Play Store for Android).
Connect the poster to power (or switch on the battery) and launch the downloaded application. The application should automatically detect and connect to posters powered on and allow you the immediate management of said poster(s). If you have multiple posters, or plan to purchase more, it is recommended to rename the connected device(s) immediately for clarity in the future.
In the application, touch the burger menu (three lines) at the top left hand corner, or swipe from the left hand side of the screen to open the menu. In the menu you will see "Group Manager". You can create new groups (to control multiple posters at once) and group your posters in them to your liking, as well as rename each device and most importantly, select the device (or group) you'd like to manage. Once selected, you can immediately use the circular slider (and other functionality) in the main application to control the poster. For more help on the usage of the app, there is further information available by selecting the gear icon in the top right hand corner of the screen.
Smart Home + Bluetooth + Remote
The last variant type bundles all of the previous options into one (excluding the touch option) which gives you ultimate control over your poster.
You will find your remote in the box, which you can find guidance for in the previous section of this guide.
This variant requires a different phone application to allow smart home integration and management from your phone, called BanlanX (available on the Apple App Store for iOS and on the Google Play Store for Android).
To connect your poster with the downloaded application, first connect your poster to a power source (or turn the battery on) and launch the application. The application should automatically detect powered-on devices via bluetooth immediately making the poster ready for use, however, if this has not happened follow the instructions to pair:
- In the top right hand corner touch the '+' icon
- Select 'Add Device'
On the Home screen, you will see every connected device. You can rename them there each or group them to your liking.
For more help on the usage of the BanlanX app, touch the 'Me' icon at the bottom of the screen, then select 'Manual' -> 'SP54XE' -> 'SP541E'.
Care and maintenance
The posters are made for indoor use only. In order to protect your product and its lifetime, please follow the below guidance:
- Do not place in overly humid areas. The maximum humidity should not exceed over 80%. The quality of the paper and its gloss treatment temporarily protects the photo from humidity but constant exposure to such an environment may over time cause the wooden base to absorb the wet, despite the water-phobic treatment of the base and the photo.
- Do not expose to direct sunlight or UV light. The colours of the photos may fade or change at consistent exposure to sunlight. Sunlight through glass-windows will not cause significant colour change.
- Protect from heat. Sunlight through glass-windows may heat up the material of the image. Do not place over or near radiator, refrigerator or other heat emitting devices. The electronics and glue will damage over time from the heat if advice is ignored. The optimum temperature of the environment in which the poster is placed is between 0C-40C.
- Avoid dropping, hitting or damaging the poster in any way. The frame of the poster will absorb (may be at the expense of the frame itself) small damage.
- Keep away from open fire. The material of the image may catch on fire and cause fire to spread further. The battery variant may explode when exposed to fire.
In order to keep your poster clean, you can simply use a damp cloth and gently go over the poster. Since the photo is printed on high quality paper and sealed afterwards, it will not stain and will easily be cleanable with a damp cloth. We encourage regular quick wipes across the poster to keep it clean.
Avoid using chemicals or excessively rubbing on the surface of the poster.
The remote, acrylic parts and the frame may be cleaned using non-aggressive cleaning agents (e.g. screen cleaner spray) if needed.
